So far......So good

2009 has started out quite well....... Everyone is starting to feel ALOT better. Logan is finally smiling more than coughing.....so much better!!! We spent New Year's morning taking down Christmas decorations and cleaning the house up a bit. Still need to find a home for some toys. We headed over to Suz and Pat's in the afternoon to join them, Papa (Grammie was home with a cold), and Renee and Kenny for dinner. We had a yummy dinner of BBQ chicken, salad, beans, and pies. Well, I heard it was yummy.....I couldn't taste a thing....so annoying.
The day was fun. Ella rode her bike, played with Jack, got an Auntie Suz bubble bath, and a nice long book was read to her by Uncle Pat. Logan spent the day smiling, kicking alot, and enjoyed being held.
Hippo gets a ride today....too cute. She is FAST on this thing!

Fingers, and toe-toes, and Hair......Oh My!!!!

My sweet little girl deserved a special day out since she is finally feeling better (at least one of us is) so she joined Brooke at Sweet & Sassy for some fun.....they are such the girly girls.....
.
After her hair trim......yes, she needed a trim. Trying to even it out
Keeping her eye on Bradley.....

Ella's 1st pedicure...had to sit on the side because she was too little to reach from behind

Beautiful Brooke and her Beautiful Mommy

Always a story to tell

Kick back and relax with the lollipop....she definitely enjoyed this

Those are some pretty pink toes

Just a polish on the fingers (polish already off...not so good at leaving it alone)

Strike a pose....there's nothing to it

Brooke and her mommy joined us for lunch as Sauce and then we were on our own to head to Dippin Dots......but Ella had to have some. I LOVE this picture!

Just a Cute Little Story

The other day, Paul was leaving for work and was giving out good-bye kisses. He leaned down to kiss Ella and she turned her head and said, "Here daddy, kiss my cheek. I don't want you to get sick."

Like Mother....Like Daughter

So......as if things aren't "not fun" enough in the Barron household of sickness.......last night we almost ended up in the Emergency Room. I was taking a little snooze on the couch because I really was feeling horrible and was awakened after about 15 minutes to Ella telling me that she had a "boogie" in her nose and would I "get it". So I grabbed a kleenex with my eyes half-open and attempted to find the mystery booger. Well, no luck so I told her there wasn't any. At this time, she started crying and saying, "OW! OWEEEE!". I opened my eyes the rest of the way and took a look inside.....something bright white. I calmly (well, not really that calmly) asked her what was in her nose. She then started a tearful attempt at telling me that she had put a piece of paper in her nose when she was making invitations to her "fancy party".....(couldn't leave out that important detail in her time of panic).
She became hysterical and I had a flashback to my childhood....not a good one.....When I was Ella's age and my mom was in the shower, I was playing with some beads which I called "peeny balls" (don't know why so don't ask) and I decided to put one up my nose....great idea. I told my mom and she calmy (well, not really that calmly) asked me to "blow it out".....I was a brilliant child and did a huge sniff and up it went.....uh-oh. To the doctor we flew, and a large contraption was inserted to grab it out.....not fun.
Back to last night.....Paul and I were both trying to get Ella to calm down with no luck at all. She was absolutely hysterical. I was trying the nasal aspirator (both manual and battery operated)....no luck and Ella was determined with screams and wild movement to not even have me attempt to try the tweezers......at this point, there was a lot of sweating going on. Alot of sweating....Ella looked like she had been dunked in the bathtub. We made a call to the neighbor to see if he could come help hold her down so we could extract it and he wasn't home. I finally had her sitting on my lap and was telling her to close her eyes....and by some miracle, I had a moment of time to put the tweezers up with her holding still and out come a HUGE bigger than a kidney bean piece of paper. RELIEF for all.......
Ella put her arms around me and gave me the biggest hug and told me she loved me and thanked me over and over for getting the paper out of her nose. She was devastated and exhausted.......
I then had to make a phone call to my mom to tell her "like mother, like daughter" and apologize for the anguish I caused her so many years back......I can honestly and unfortunately now say...."I know how you felt"

Ella......Yesterday

Ella LOVES.....i mean LOVES....her new bike. She has probably done about 450 laps around the kitchen since she has had it. With her cough and the cold weather, she has been unable to take it outside for a ride BUT yesterday when daddy got home from work, she rode to the mailbox. She really is riding well. She had been such a good girl yesterday.....cooped up in the house with a sick mommy and brother. Today she went to grammie and papa's house for some fun times! We LOVE you sweet Ella!

Poor Little Logan

Our little guy is definitely feeling yucky these days. He has had a cough now for about 5 days and a runny, stuffy nose for 2 days. Luckily he still is sleeping very well at night so he is getting his rest. He is also eating well, too. You can definitely see in his eyes the "I don't feel so good". He is not a fan of having his nose suctioned but always gives me a smile when it is done. He is such a sweet, sweet baby! As hard as we tried to keep Ella's sickness from spreading....both Logan and I caught it! Let's hope we are better by the new year!

Homemade Lasagna, Football,Drums,Sword Fights, and Bubble Baths

We headed to Suz and Pat's house for some homemade lasagna on Sunday, kleenex in hand. They were nice enough to have us and our sickness over to relax. The lasagna was excellent and even better than that was that Jack and Ella played together the whole time with minimal drama.
